| John Smoltz Joins the St. Louis Cardinals |
There are very few pitchers in the MLB history that have been able to stand the test of time, even some of the best haven’t had more than five or six seasons in them before they call it career due to injuries or just losing their edge. John Smoltz on the other hand has been able to stand the test of time at least up until this point where he is jobless and looking to join a new team before the add deadline.
There have only been a handful of teams that have taken serious interest in the future hall of fame pitcher since the Boston Red Sox released him recently. The Los Angeles Dodgers, Detroit Tigers, Texas Rangers and Florida Marlins were the other teams interested in signing the veteran pitcher, but it was the St. Louis Cardinals that won in the end as they signed the former Cy Young award winner for $100K for the rest of the season. It was a small price to pay for possibly making another run at a World Series title in the Albert Pujols era. Check out the odds of this happening and bet online
With Smoltz as a starter the Cardinals will drastically improve their pitching as Smoltz is obviously more familiar with the National League opposed to the American League when he was with the Boston Red Sox this season. I still believe the Dodgers will be the team to come out on top in the NL, but they have struggled all season long against the Cardinals who seem to have their number and adding Smoltz makes it that much tougher for NL opponents.
Adding Smoltz doesn’t guarantee a World Series title by any means, but it will definitely make waves in the sports betting world as online betting with all most certainly change and odds for St. Louis going all the way will also change in the sports betting forums.
